How to Compare Gear per Patch

My Recc. for First Characters:

  • For as long as you possibly can stand, you’ll want to use town sets and town gear–they’re buffed here!
  • A comped set of Mermaid Gear (or mix of Mermaid and Ghost Blue) can easily pass 3rd job trials
  • Best results, I have found: Town gear to Ghost Blue (about lv 130) -> climb CT and grind a small bit on CT 44+fiesta -> Get to about 190 for next level character boxes.
  • In my opinion, don’t go for the 120-150 boxes if you can help it. Paulas will struggle with this compared to other classes.
  • If you skipped the 120-150 boxes, you should have enough for your 190-ish boxes to gear up almost fully and move on to phase 3 of playing, which is grinding galder for cards for Guardian to prep for Harkon Defense to farm more Eternal Tickets.

With each Patch:

  • Keep an eye out for the temper ranges of each item for your desired stat. There will always be an optimal path for the stat at any given time thanks to the character boxes, however, some stats come similar to them and can be a good supplement in a pinch or an upgrade.

For example (outdated–All Character boxes are 3s and are always available so this is not an efficient comparison; will change later):

Wooly Sheep Cape stats
  • 3s Sheep Cape 210 (pictured beside; considered the previous meta build cape for sheep) has a range of 15~52 MA, but it is hard to obtain from character boxes, as character boxes are 2~4 slots (UPDATED INFORMATION: character boxes are now guaranteed 3s!)
Kitty Pink dot Roberts 180 stats
  • 3s Hello Kitty Cape 180 (pictured below) has a range of 13~45 MA, but is easier to obtain from Hello Kitty boxes, and are guaranteed 3 slots.
  • In this example, you shave a few points off of a potential max roll (that, let’s face it, were we really going to get? UPDATED ANSWER: Yes! Character boxes are guaranteed 3s!) for compounding, but the equips are comparable and the Hello Kitty cape is a good cape in a pinch compared to the (EDIT: previously) harder to obtain Sheep Cape 210, even at 3s, meaning the bit you lose by shaving off the max few points can be compensated and improved upon with a compound, as opposed to a potential 2s Sheep Cape 210 (which is what you are more likely to encounter EDIT: until now!)
