General Info
- Guardians are a familiar that follow you around. When you summon them, attack monsters but don’t have HP so you still tank the damage.
- Guardians learn skills based on their build graph, so if you have a 6 in power, it can learn 6 power-type skills
- The skills can be for first or second job only, but in order to learn second job skills, you need a rune. Only one 2nd job rune can be applied at a time.
- Their graph is built by you and your actions! If you plant (use) the seed, almost everything you do in game affects it, minus 1:1 Trade, picking up items (NOTE: NOT GALDER! GALDER AFFECTS THE SEED!), friend/party (be careful if you gain XP!)/guild request/applications, and banking items. Almost just about everything else you can think of affects the seed.
- There are guides out there that tell you how to build a guardian, but not necessarily skills. My guardian guide covers a build that works for every class that can solo Koiosu, one of the end game bosses in an area called Tartarus, with or without your input/skills/attacks. Yes, this is real.
- If you need help on your guardian, check out my guardian guide HERE. It’s incredibly extensive and will be able to guide you through the whole process of obtaining and building your guardian.
TLDR of How to Obtain One
- You get a guardian based on a questline as well as doing a new skill (Card ID) until you collect 16 different items called Secret Cards, which go for 1 mil for everything except SC 1 and 16, which both go for 15mil each. This means a guardian’s worth of SCs is 44mil on this server at minimum.
- The questline can be started at lv 65, but I don’t suggest starting until you’re ready for the extensive graph building process+have at least 800-1k cards on you (no, I am not kidding).
- The questline requires the Sandmen Quests in Mirage Field 4 to be completed in order to fully continue, this means you must complete at least Episode 3 Chapter 1 to obtain your guardian.
How CID works
- In order to use Card ID, you must complete the first part of the 4 part questline to obtain the skill. It utilizes cards in your inventory,
- Each card affects CID based on their life, which you can see when you right click the card. Each life is how many chances at finding a pair you have before the game quits. This life count does not apply after the first stage, so it’s best to use +3 life cards from the second stage onward
- The best place to farm cards is Bad Fury in Cora Field 2.
I Finished My Guardian, What Should I Do Now?
- Teach it skills! In my guide, I lead you through the koi hunter build as well as the required skills for it, and include builds for almost every single guardian type that would make your guardian viable, either by learning half or all of the skills required.
- Go to Eclipse in Skill Garden in Megalopolis with a Popeye Anenome card to obtain Mind’s Eye and be able to unlock new areas and a new party gamemode–Harkon Defense–to farm crests to mature compound with your gear.
- Depending on your build, use it! Some builds are good for DPS such as the koi hunter build while others are good for farming such as a high Magic type.
